Good Friday Homily


Not only was Jesus’ body broken in the passion but also His heart. He was betrayed by His friend Judas, a man He had selected to be an apostle. And He was denied by Peter, the man He had called “rock” and whom He had handpicked to lead His Church. The blows He received from His torturers were cruel indeed. However, even more cruel was what He endured from His friends. It broke His heart just as surely as the scourging broke His body.
