6th Sunday of Easter Homily
What do we do, then, if we encounter a teaching of the Church which we disagree with? The first thing is to be humble enough to admit that we might be wrong or that we might misunderstand what the Church is teaching. We should then ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten our minds. After that, we should engage our intellect by reading up on it or asking a priest or other knowledgeable person to explain it to us. If we still cannot accept it, then we should continue to pray with trust that, if the Church teaches it, it must come from Jesus. With time, understanding will come if we remain humble and open.
