It is every parent’s worst nightmare.

Late one summer afternoon, Mary had just gotten home from work and was reading through her mail when she heard her doorbell ring. At the door were two policemen. Her son, Billy, had been playing with his friend at a construction site. As they were climbing up a pile of sand, he slipped and the gravel fell on top of him, smothering him.
